Comments of Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant

First time in Australia, had tasty Indian food in Taj Mahal, Canberra. The soft chapatis deserve a special mention. Waiting time is bit longer, but that is absolutely ok for the fresh and tasty food! Will definitely visit again while in Canberra

We had the most wonderful vegan feast at the Taj Mahal. The decor feels like you're in a restaurant in India and both the waiting and kitchen staff were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal as much as we enjoyed the service. Will definitely be making this a regular spot for our staff dinners, thank you so much Taj Mahal :)

We Indians can't run without tea, the owner went beyond expectations to accommodate us in his personal parking and served the tea in the car as I wanted. Nevertheless to say, the tea was great in taste and the service was amazing. Thank you. HNY22

Delicious Indian food! Best I’ve ever had - wish they were based in Sydney. Definitely coming back here when we are in Canberra again.

Awesome Indian food! Best I’ve ever had. Definitely coming back here while in Canberra again.

Last weekend, We've tried their vegetarian dishes and I can say it was delicious. We asked to make it spicy and it's up to our expectation. I'd recommend Taj Mahal. However, I wud like 2 suggest they should add some more veggie options as it's limited to only four.

While we were in lockdown and the Taj was closed I took the opportunity to try more than half a dozen other Indian restaurants. All were slightly more expensive and while some had one or two really nice dishes none compared to the Taj, where every dish is a gem. I've yet to find another restaurant where the meat in curries is so tender that it can be broken up with a fork and is infused with such flavour. With Shiraj and Shannon doing a brilliant job on service and Shiraj's Mum doing an equally brilliant job in the kitchen it's like visiting family.

The food here was awesome. Felt like authentic indian food (Maa ke haat ka khana types).Wonderful customer service. Must go if you are looking for good Indian food.

Great small restaurant with a nice flair. I went there several times and the service was perfect every single time. The food was delicious. I would recommend it to everyone without hesitation.

Really good food, and excellent, friendly service. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely loved it- the flavours were so rich and took us back to India. The staff were great too. Not too pricey :) Only drawback was service time was slightly delayed and we had to wait heaps for food to arrive.

Best Indian Food and professional service I have ever experienced. I organised a function for 20 people at Taj Mahal. The function was a great success all due to the magnificent organisation, attention and service from all the staff at this wonderful establishment. The plentiful and delicious Indian dishes topped off a wonderful evening. I can not recommend the Taj Mahal Restaurant enough.

Absolutely delicious Indian food and such a nice cozy restaurant. Both the chef and gentleman who assisted us, were so friendly and helpful and even gave us free rice. This has now become our favourite Indian Restaurant in Canberra!

We booked the booth on the first level and its the best seat in the house. Quiet, chill and the service is helpful and friendly. Been here a few times and it never disappoints. Nothing pretentious here, just traditional food with amazing flavours. Trust me, you will return.

All the reviews of the Taj Mahal make it sound great. So off we went. It was unassuming, but super busy, which we took as a good sign. It looked like there was only one waiter on though, so we thought it could be a long night. Well. We certainly underestimated that one waiters ability. Shannon ran upstairs & downstairs with ease. He was super friendly and really made us feel like we were the only ones there. Food arrived promptly and was really delicious. All curries are cooked to your liking, mild, medium & hot. They had some traditional sides like banana & coconut and tomato & onion. If you like well priced, well cooked tasty Indian food served by a friendly waiter. Then book a table at the Taj Mahal tonight.

We let Shannon, the waiter, make a recommendation and settled on the 4 dish banquet. The food was plentiful and good. Washed down with a couple of beers and wine. Finished off with a coffee. Access is limited due to the steep stairs but the restaurant is comfortable. Highly recommend

Tasted couple of Indian restaurants in Canberra but this one still is the best. Every dish is authentic and liked the advise & attitude of the person taking the order and managing everything. Tandoori chicken with green sauce is a must try. Also the malai kofta. Yum yum.

This family owned and run Indian restaurant has been here forever and is always great! It's tucked away upstairs in the CBD but there's plenty of parking across the road. The decor and atmosphere is dark and interesting, the food is fabulous and the service is great. Good wine list. Kids and groups catered for. Reasonably priced.

We were in Canberra a couple of weeks ago and my friend found a review about this Indian so we thought we'd give it ago. Its a nice intimate restaurant and though we didnt have a booking a booth was found. The food was really delicious and the nan bread just melted in your mouth!! We were told the owner's mother was the cook in the kitchen - good job Mum!! Prices were exceptionally good. Would highly recommed a visit.
