The organizational meeting of the Housing Authority of the city of Newberry was held on October 17, 1968. A cooperation agreement was signed with the City of Newberry, and an application for 250 Public Housing units was submitted to the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Today, Newberry Housing Authority (NHA) provides Housing through the Public Housing Program, Housing Choice Vouchers, and Mainstream Vouchers. In 2004, Vincent Place opened as a single occupancy HOME property.
NHA provides 315 Public Housing Units and 12 HOME units and manages 239 Housing Choice Vouchers and 40 Mainstream Vouchers.
Newberry Housing Authority is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners.
